Made using 100% malted barley produced in Romania, our single malt is distilled, aged and bottled at the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distillery, located near the Carpathian Mountains.
The malted barley for this inaugural edition was harvested in 2016, distilled in 2017, the first maturation was done in first-fill bourbon barrels then in wine casks.
The maturation in a warmer climate vs Scotland (+5⁰C on average) might explain the unique, milder character of this superb single malt whisky.
Carpathian Single Malt was produced in several varieties, matured exclusively or finished in a range of casks such as Spanish Sherry, Madeira, Romanian Wine, Italian Amarone, Chianti, French Burgundy, French Cognac, Kentucky Bourbon, Tawny & Ruby Port & Greek Wines. We also produced a medium peated whisky made from Belgium peated malted barley, dedicated to those who love smoked single malt whisky.
